Taking breaks to stretch throughout the day can improve your posture, flexibility and focus, as well as offer support to your hardworking spine!
Try adding the Penguin Stretch to your daily routine. This stretch is a simple way to reverse the muscle strain that we put on our bodies when we work at a desk – in school, at the office, or at home. Our shoulders pull forward, putting strain on the muscles in our back and pulling our head forward. Overtime, this posture becomes our new normal and can have devastating effects to our health as we age. The Penguin Stretch will help you open those muscles back up and return you to your power posture for learning, working or playing.
Dr. Dan will walk you through when and how to do the Penguin Stretch in this short video. Enjoy!

If you have shoulder or arm challenges, a modified version of the Penguin Stretch could be a better option for you. Instead of putting your arms behind your back, try keeping them in a neutral picture (just like Dr. Dan is in the picture ) to avoid putting too much stress on your shoulder or elbow joints.
